The
Town Museum
The former Post-Office. It is first mentioned in the diary of
Samuel Kiechel's, Ulm's citizen, in 1586. At present the museum
depicts the local life, mining activities as well as the sad
processes with witches.

Mining Open-Air Museum - Golden Ore Mills
These are replicas of medieval mining
mills with a nature trail. In two wooden houses you will be
shown gold ore grinding and with a bit of luck you can take a
small piece of gold home. Both wooden machines made according to
the drawings of that time are driven by water wheels utilizing
energy from the former channel. There is a nature trail called
“The Valley of the Lost Tunnels” found in the neighbourhood of
the Mining Open-Air Museum.

The Outlook-Tower on Bishop's Mount
It overlooks the country side from the very top of the mountain
called Bishop's Mount 890m above sea-level. On 26 August 1898 it
was dedicated to the Emperor Francis Joseph I on the occasion of
his 50 year's reign. Its overall height is 19,30m and is open
all the year round. The peaks of the Jeseníky Mountains
including Praděd, the Beskides, Sněžka as well as the Polish
lowlands, can be seen from its sidewalk.
The
Shrine of the Virgin Mary, the
Helper
Its history goes back to the times of the Swedish Wars. In 1973
the church was blown up but in 1995 the renewed church was
solemnly dedicated to Our Lady, Help of Christians and Protector
of the Unborn. Much frequented regular pilgrimages are held
there several times a year. One of the most attended is The
Pilgrimage of Three Nations (Czech, Poland, Germany) held in
September.
The
Ski Area Příčná Mountain
It is situated in the picturesque scene of the Zlaté Hory Upland
which is a part of the Jeseníky. The area itself lies under
Příčná Mountain that is the highest peak of this upland (975m
above the sea-level). When the second stage of the ski area is
finished, it will be one of the largest in Moravia. The ski
slope is nearly 1 200m long. The chair lift is in operation all
the year long, traffic capacity being 2 400 per hour. The seats
have holders for the transport of mountain cycles.
Ruins
of Medieval Castles
The history of these castles goes back to the first half of the
13th century. The Opava frontier was protected by the mighty
Edelštejn Castle towering above the town of Zlaté Hory. Both the
Watchtower above Pokřivná and the Leuchtenštejn Castle at the
foot of Bishop's Mount ensured the safety of the road from Zlaté
Hory to Opava which served for the transportation of gold-bearing
rocks. The Koberštejn Castle above Rejvíz guarded the trade
route from Olomouc to Nisa.
The
Edel Sanatorium
The operation of the Sanatorium in Zlaté Hory, formerly called
Zuckmantel, was started by Mr Anjel, doctor of medicine, in
1881. A lot of distinguished persons of Czech origin were cured
there, e.g. Franz Kafka and Leoš Janáček. At present children
are treated for respiratory diseases in the Sanatorium. In
addition, there is speleotheraphy offered in the renovated since
1st March 1995. A guided tour of the therapeutic spaces in the
underground is possible to arrange by phone.
Zlaté
Hory Mining Nature Trail
It follows the most remarkable mining landmarks, ten of which
were declared cultural monuments. At particular stations you
will find examples of mining both sediment deposits and primary
ores and their preparation as it was done from the earliest
times to the present. It is possible to walk through the whole
Nature Trail or only its lower part. Its total length: 11-16 km.
The super elevation: 330m-545m.
Nature
Trail “The Valley of Lost Tunnels”
The nature trail in the neighbourhood of Golden Mines informs
you about the origin and the way of gold processing. Its trail
will lead you to the place where “water runs up the hill”. The
mirage of this place is so intense that it is hard for the
watcher to understand the art of the old prospectors. The number
of stations: 11, the total length 2km.
Horní
and Dolní Údolí
Former mining villages were founded in connection with gold
mining in Příčná Mountain. Obergrund is dominated by the stone
church dedicated to St John the Baptist. Obergrund is the
birthpace of the renowned Kutzer Family famous for their works
of sculpture and woodcarving. In the Niedergrund church
dedicated to St Achatz one can find a marble altar by the
Silesian sculptor Joseph Obeth. In 2007 the Monument of those
killed in World War I, which is in front of the church, was
renewed.
Rejvíz
and the Nature Trail at the Mossy Lake
Rejvíz is the real pearl among the Jeseníky Mountain villages.
It lies in the middle of the velvety green meadows on the
plateau covered with woods where you can meet a lot of deer and
gather blueberries, cranberries and mushrooms. The altitude of
the marshland is between 731 and 804m above sea level. Along the
tourist footpath from Rejvíz to Niedergrund a stopping place
“Hříbek” has been reconstructed. The Huge Monument to the
victims of World WAR I was erected in 1929 at Rejvíz. The
Guesthouse named Rejvíz is known for its wooden carved chairs.
The
Lourdes Cave at Rejvíz
This pilgrimage site was built at Starý Rejvíz in 1908 and was
solemnly opened in 1909. After the forced expatriation of the
former inhabitants the pilgrimage site was destroyd. With the
help of the photography of that period the desolate site was
found and the Lourdes Cave was renewed.
